Using a variety of wireless sensors, a system can be configured that
will alert caregivers (case managers, family members or our EMT-staffed
monitoring center) if:
- Inactivity occurs due to a fall, heart attack, or stroke
- Changes in sleeping habits are detected
- Vital signs are abnormal or blood glucose is too high or too low
- Changes in toileting habits are detected which may be an indication
of a bladder infection or dehydration
- The stove or microwave are left on for too long
- Changes in eating habits are detected
- Medication is not being taken as scheduled
- Exterior doors are opened at unusual times
Alerts of unusual events are transmitted to caregivers through email
messages, text alerts, or phone calls from our monitoring center.
Caregivers have access to a secure website where alerts can be
viewed and trends can be detected that may require intervention.
If needed, caregivers can remotely disconnect the client’s stove
or microwave.
Custom scenarios can easily be programmed to reduce
extraneous alerts. For example, configure the system
to notify you if the stove is turned on AND no subsequent
motion is detected in the kitchen. Or choose to be alerted
if the client gets out of bed at night AND does not
return within a certain time frame.
Optional webcams equipped with microphones can be added
to the system that allow caregivers to remotely see and hear
what is happening in the client’s home. Webcams can
take a photo of anyone entering or leaving the client’s
home so caregivers will know who is visiting the home.
Pricing varies depending on the number of sensors required,
but a typical system can be leased for $150 - $300/month.
Compare this to the cost of placement in a nursing
home or assisted living facility or the expense
of hiring a home health worker.
Such a system can significantly delay or entirely eliminate
the need for placement in a care facility and
reduce unnecessary visits to the client’s house.
